Four hundred potters, fifteen gallery exhibitions, three wheelthrowing demonstrations, two keynote speeches, and one film later I would say that the Australian Ceramics Triennale 2009 is well started. From my perspective, the only thing better than visiting Sydney is being here with lots of pots and potters. We had a marathon gallery bus tour yesterday, and then the main events got underway at the National Art School today. There are folks here from I don't even know how many countries, and the conversations are absolutely fascinating. And the food ! Just walking down Oxford Street by the hotel you can pick Vietnamese, Thai, Indian, Argentine bbq, Balkan (?) and that's before you get to the next light. A few of us zoomed downtown between events today to go to the Australia National Museum to see the aboriginal exhibits, and it was a lovely crisp day as we walked along the park in front of the cathedral. The next three days will be all conference all the time, and our presentation is scheduled for 2:45 on Sunday. Wish me luck !
